Colegio de Hope in Guatemala
In 2001, the doors of this school were opened to impoverished children who live alongside the railroad in Guatemala.
The idea behind this school is to give a good education at a low to no cost for the families and to give the children of the railroad track squatter community a tool to find their way out of the cycle of poverty.
They currently have 215 children enrolled (preschool to 6th grade) and have 7 teachers.
Since the school is run by donations and sponsors, they are constantly in need of the basic school supplies, uniforms, new shoes, and money to sponsor the children, teachers, and building care.
Sponsoring a child costs $30 a month.
